How to setup clients with McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.5.0i

SUMMARY

Clients that have McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i installed are unable to Push or locally install the Unitrends agent. This article explains how to allow clients to properly install the Unitrends Agent on their system.

ISSUE

Cause

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i disables installation of any service or program while it is enabled.

Resolution

1. Manually disable McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i via the tool bar [ Right Click McAfee Icon > Select Virus Console ]
2. Disable ALL McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i protection services via Virus Console
3. Diasble McAfee Services in Windows Services [Click Start >Click Run > Type services.msc > Click OK ] {Sercice Names = McAfee* , Windows 7/2008/8/2012 = Four Services , Pre-Windows 7 = Three Services}
4. Install Agent manually [Click Start > Click Run > Type \\ip-of-appliance\ > Slect OK > Open Folder Windows Agents ]
5. Restart All McAfee Services [Click Start >Click Run > Type services.msc > Click OK ] {Sercice Names = McAfee* , Windows 7/2008/8/2012 = Four Services , Pre-Windows 7 = Three Services}
6. Enable ALL VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i via the tool bar [ Right Click McAfee Icon > Select Virus Console ]
7. Set up and configure Agent on Appliance
8. Try to browse File System Via Folder Exclusion under the Backup Menu (If able to browse files then agent install and setup was successfull)
