Locate and burn an unified Bare Metal iso image (formerly integrated baremetal recovery or iBMR)
Where is the ISO image needed for a unified Bare Metal Recovery? (formerly called integrated Bare Metal Recovery)
For Unitrends Free edition (Community edition) see notes below, these instructions do not apply.
1. To access the unified Bare Metal Recovery ISO images, connect to the CIFS shares presented by your backup appliance using it's IP or short DNS name from any client capable of CIFS/SMB connections.
Mounting procedures vary depending upon the operating system, but for most Windows versions, you should be able to simply connect using Windows File Exporer using standard UNC path conventions. For example \\<dpu_ip>
2. You will see several shares presented by a Unitrends appliance. The share containing the ISO images is titled virtual_failover. Navigate into this folder.
Note: The actual IP address of your Unitrends system will replace the <> brackets and everything within them in the entry above.
3. Select winbm32 for 32-bit BIOS-based assets and winbm for any UEFI asset and all 64bit assets.
4. Burn the image to a disk for recovery to a physical machine, or save it in a location that you can access from your hypervisor for recovery to a virtual machine.
Please be aware, 10.1 uBMR media usage requires a valid appliance user credential. After booting from the uBMR media and attempting to select an appliance to review backups you will be prompted for an appliance administrator or superuser. Manager or operator users will not have sufficient rights to use uBMR media to perform restores.
Note: the uBMR media is located in the virtual_failover share on trial and licensed edition UBs only. Free edition UBs do not include this package.
