I know that I can protect up to 1 TB of unique virtual machine data, but what counts as "unique data"?

SUMMARY

This article explains the sizes of the last full backup for each protected VM is used to calculate the amount of unique data.

ISSUE

With Unitrends Free, you can protect up to 1 TB of unique data. To determine the amount of unique data you are protecting, the appliance uses the size of the last full backup for each virtual machine. For example, if you are protecting three virtual machines, and the last full for VM1 is 50 GB, the last full for VM2 is 250 GB, and the last full for VM3 is 300 GB, you are protecting 600 GB of unique data. Note that Unitrends does not limit the amount of storage you can add to an appliance, so the total size of the backups stored on your appliance can exceed 1 TB.
