ISSUE

Term or Acronym     Definition
BDS Backup Data Store. The location where backups are stored for each PHD VBA. This can be an attached virtual
disk or network location.
   
CIFS Common Internet Filesystem. Protocol that allows access to files and folders via a share. PHDVB makes file recovery instances available as CIFS shares.
   
Data store Storage location where backups or backup archives are stored.
   
FLR File Level Recovery
   
IR Instant Recovery
   
iSCSI IP-based protocol used to allow access to data stores. PHDVB can provide file recovery instances as iSCSI targets.
   
PHDVB PHD Virtual Backup
   
Unitrends Virtual Backup Appliance The virtual appliance that is deployed and used to perform backups and restores of virtual machines (also, sometimes referred to as 'the appliance').
   
OVF Open Virtualization Format. The PHD VBA is available as an OVF for deployment to VMware vSphere.
   
NFS Network File System. File system protocol used to access files and folders. 
   
VBA™ Virtual Backup Appliance. A small virtual machine used to backup and restore other VMs. The PHD Virtual Backup Appliance is a VBA.
   
VBA Console The virtual machine console of the VBA accessible in each hypervisor client.
