Update Failed

SUMMARY

Steps for updating your environment when autoupdate failed to update all appliances

ISSUE

Problem

The Auto Update or manual update process failed to update all appliances.

Resolution

The update process will fail to complete successfully for any appliances currently running tasks (backup, restore, etc.). If an update failed for an appliance, it can be applied again using the Updates area on the Global tab of the Configure page.

To re-apply an update again

  1. Wait until no tasks are running for your appliances then download the update from the Product Updates knowledge base link.
  2. Click Upload in the Updates are of the UI and select the downloaded update file.
  3. The update will be applied to any appliances not currently at the latest version number.

If you are still unable to apply the update, you can apply it to an individual appliance using the directions below.

To apply an update to an individual PHD Virtual Backup Appliance:

Using the hypervisor client console:

  1. Log in to the appliance virtual machine console and open a command shell prompt.
  2. Enter the following command:

sudo phdvb-update-srd install [update_file]

Note that the command will return immediately and the update will proceed in the background.

Using an SSH client (PuTTY, etc):

  1. Log in to the appliance using an ssh client.
  2. Enter the following command:

sudo phdvb-update-notify update --local --install=[update file]
